This resilient flood design is meant for homes that get 0″-6″ of water. Instead of running the drywall to just above the floor, it can be cut anywhere from 5″-8″ depending on the size of baseboard you would like to install.
When installing the bottom piece of drywall, cut off 4-6″ depending on the size of baseboard you have available.
Attach the baseboard either directly to the studs, or, it can overlap on top of the sheetrock to create a clean working edge.
Costs
1″ x 6″ x 16″ unfinished pine is $10-13 per board about $0.70 per foot. For a 1000 sqft foot house the boards would be around $1200. The major benefit is that if you have a large bathroom leak or a small flood, no sheetrock will be damaged and the baseboards can be cleaned and reused if they were primed and painted before installation.
