During our time at West Street Recovery, Andrew and David Cobb developed and iterated on a few residential home flood designs during the retrofitting of homes that experienced damage during Hurricane Harvey. In neighborhoods where there is not the financial power to elevate homes or relocate, we sought to create construction designs that would fit the needs and aesthetics of the current homes, but increase their resilience by reducing waist due to future floods.
These designs are a work in progress, and we look forward to your feedback and alternative designs that can help families get whole again after flooding events.
A very special thanks to Tracy Hamblin and Raul Cervantes for their help in implementing and working out the fine details to make these designs work.
